Bathilde d'Orléans was an intriguing French princess of the late 18th century. Her 'salon' was renowned throughout Europe for its liberty of thought and wit. An advocate of democracy, she was a truly forward-thinking Duchess.
Our Orléans artwork features the wonderfully statuesque, Mediterranean acanthus. We love its elegant floral architecture and regal muted palette.
The double French linen surround sees a dusky, muted mauve paired with a subtle, fine pinstripe.
The Duchesses are printed on Hahnemühle bamboo paper, whose natural warm tones and matt finish enhance the soft textures of the flowers, lending them a delicate, expressive and sensual feel. The eco-friendly paper is acid- and lignin-free, and meets the most exacting requirements in terms of age resistance.
The final flourish is an intricate vintage gold ornate frame, hand-made and bespoke. We feel they deserve no less.
The Duchess of Orléans is available in two sizes: medium (37 x 46cm) and large (49 x 63cm).
