Welcome to this hilltop in the remote and rugged Cévennes.

Here I am are lucky enough to enjoy an outlook of huge skies and never-ending hills. The light dances to a different tune every day and  invariably I find myself compelled to reach for my pen and my camera to hold onto the moment.

Photography in some form or another has always been a passion and my camera a trusted companion throughout my travels over the last thirty years. It allows me to quietly observe and keeps me connected with the different elements of earth, sky and water and the changing of the seasons. I find I am increasingly looking for a deeper creative expression inspired by the place I live and have found, through ICM (intentional camera movement), a freedom to move with my camera, outlining the contours of the hills or perhaps the sway of the grasses in the wind.

Life here is still dictated by seasonal shifts. It is reminiscent of the landscapes of Kenya with which I fell in love with during the years I worked and lived on safari, but it has also offered up its own unique identity and opportunity for adventure.  It is a place that has encouraged me to find forgotten paths, to explore, to discover and to realise the meaning of home. I hope you enjoy!

With no hesitation we snapped it up (easy) and then embarked on its complete renovation (not so easy!). We are still here fifteen years later…

One day, as I looked for interior inspiration, I discovered Instagram and was immediately intrigued by this huge community of people from all over the globe sharing images of their homes and inspirations.  It felt like a place I wanted to hang out for a while. As a lover of figs, surrounded by the figgiest of fig trees and very partial to a slice of tarty fig tart,  figTart seemed to me the obvious name…
